Holiday GP races

3 races - one over Thanksgiving, one on Dec 26, one on Jan 1.  The
possibilities are all 3 GPL races, or 2 GPL and one N2K2 race.  Boxing day and
New Year's races are sort of a tradition<g>, so those will probably stay as GPL
races.

Possible GPL tracks: Spa, Zandvoort, Nurburgring, Snett67, Zeltweg.
Possible N2K2 tracks: Dover, Watkins, Atlanta, IMS.

I believe that a 9am eastern time on Dec 26 and Jan 1 worked out fine before
for the Euros as well as those in North America.  What about the Thanksgiving
race?  Since Euros don't celebrate, I'm considering that Sunday(Dec 1) at 9am.
That one *may* be a Nascar race.  I haven't decided yet.
Questions, comments, suggestions?

I think you should keep the GPL tracks to something that came with
the game.  I have Snett (I think), but not zeltweg.  Besides, people
have a lot more "practice" under their belts for the original tracks.
Are you setting up with GP rules, or are you using intermediate with
GP lengths (to allow use of shift-r).

For the NR2K2 track, I'd much prefer Dover or Watkins Glen.  Atlanta
and IMS are too big.

Standard GP rules - you crash, you're out.  I was originally only going to
suggest original tracks, then I thought of those addons as an afterthought.
The amount of practice for original tracks makes sense, as does the fact that
everyone doesn't HAVE Snett or Zeltweg.  Plus, I think some people have
graphics/lockup problems with the addons.  I'll just go with original tracks.
Maybe I'll add Watkins Glen to the list instead.

Too big?  I hadn't considered that.  I was thinking about the larger tracks
because there's more room for error, as opposed to a bullring like NHIS or
Phoenix.

I like the shorter tracks because everything happens faster. :)

Will these races be open to everyone?  Passworded?  Do I need to
register somewhere?  Also, I hope you can finalize the tracks soon,
because I am going to need a lot of practice between now and then to be
able to keep up with you guys.

The NASCAR race(if there is one) will be run by the invite list I already have.
The GPL races have always been open, but I reserve the right to eject any
driver who is acting like an ass...

I was going to plead for an open, pasworded NASCAR race, as John doesn't
sound very positive towards one-off entries into RASCAR on the homepage, but
then I remembered the race number - carfile hassle.

How about a compromise... one time entries get assigned numbers 201, 202 to,
say, 205 and a generic paintjob, provided by one of the master painters in
here. The RASCARians can then keep these cars in their car folder to
accomodate future guest drivers.

Any word on the carset effort, BTW?

<ding!> Did someone mention the magic word? <g>

No particular preference.

Yes, that's 3pm here... good time to start a race.

Fine. Something like 1-3pm on the day itself might work too (7-9pm over
here), when's Thanksgiving? Novermber 27th? -Lot of Euro leagues run on
Wednesday or Thursday, though.

I made a carset from my HD. All I did was cut/paste what I thought were all
the new cars.

It's 9 MB's
Tell me if I missed any.

What, Nurburgring?

Leaning towards Watkins Glen...

Thanksgiving is Thursday, the 28th.  Running at 1-3 on Thanksgiving would mess
up people who go to dinner, and would also affect Canadians(who don't
celebrate?).
