GP2: no sound anymore!

by Carlos Da Silv » Mon, 07 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Hi!

After replacing my old motherboard (Elitegroup SI54P-AIO) by a new one
(AOpen AP5T), the sound in GP2 disappeared. I run the game in MS-DOS Mode
by specifying a new CONFIG.SYS & AUTOEXEC.BAT configuration. There is no
sound driver loaded in these specific files.

I noticed that the DMA & IRQ settings for the sound card (SB AWE32) have
changed in Win 95 after installing the new motherboard. Probably this is
due to the PnP-BIOS of the new motherboard. I tried to configure the sound
card using the GP2 setup program by specifying the same values as in Win
95, but it did not help.

When I run GP2 under Win 95, everything is OK, so it's not a hardware
problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

Probably the best answer is to override the Win 95 setup. Go into the
Control Panel, System, Device manager. Find the sound card.
Choose properties. Set the properties manually to the old default
values. Irq 5, 220, DMA 1 and 5.  Alternatively set the values to the
ones you were using previously if different.

If this doesn't work, you may need to use a DOS pnp configuation
utility to set the values under DOS.
