NROS boot problem solved

by Dega » Sat, 04 Apr 1998 04:00:00

After many long and costly hours of experimenting with various "solutions"to my
boot problems on NROS,I asked a freind to help me figure it out.I would always
get booted between sessions, especially warmup and race.He asked me if I had
added memory to my system, and I had.(16MB to 32MB).I had simply added two   8
MB simms in the empty expansion slots in my computer. He suggested I swap the
new simms with the original stock simms(ie move stock simms to bank 2 and put
the new ones in bank1) Lo and behold I havent been booted since.Apparently the
new memory has a faster speed and the faster memory needed to be accessed
first.Sorry if this is common knowledge, but I sure as hell didnt know it.
Hope this can help anyone having problems.

Thanks for the info, and I hope it does indeed solve your problems.
But I believe the boot problems at NROS go much deeper than memory
chips. Take for instance 26 of 36 drivers booted from league races
this past tue/wed nights in my series. I hope someone is hard at work
to solve this one before it destroys a good season.
