GP500 Steering bug...

I have also noticed this as well as some others that I was racing online
against.  I didn't think it was a hesitation though, more like not all of
the input was being accepted as I quickly turned the wheel on my LWFF.  I
was just blaming it on the wheel, but I guess it could be the game.  I have
only been using the chase view and it is very noticable to me, especially
when I nail the last section of the track and come through the esses very
quickly I usually end up in the sandtrap because the bike failed to turn due
to the lack of input.

GP500 Steering bug...

After many hours of playing the GP500 demo with the "on-bike(4)" view
I've noticed a bug in the steering.  When doing quick switchbacks
(going from full lean to full lean), there's a slight hesitation.
This is happening with both my MS FF Wheel and MS Sidewinder Joystick.
It's not as obvious in "chase" view as it is in "on-bike" view.  It
seems to happen when the controller is moved quickly from one extreme
to the other.  This annoying hesitation sometimes causes the bike to
run wide.  Anyone else experiencing this problem?   Please email me if
you are so I may forward the complaints to the appropriate people.

Thanks

I agree and it's my main gripe about this with the fact that it doesn't
support more than 1J 2Axis.  The best thing to do is always to put the
deadzone to 0%.  You can clearly see this in turn 6/7 at Mugello where you
really need a fast change of position since it's a fast right/left with
reverse banking and going downhill.

Maybe it's controller latency, but from my experience of bike racing if you
want to go from one side to another it doesn't take alot of time, it's an
instant action.

hey guys and gals,
i saw this the other night and took a closer
look ... also if you put manual lean on you will also find the solution ...
it isnt a hesitation in the steering (well it is in a way) it is actually
the time it takes for the rider to climb back on the bike and start moving
momentum in the other direction. So looking at it that way it isnt a bug ...
just a manifestation of the difference between bikes and cars

I noticed this too, But I soon realized that some bikes have less of a
hesitation then others. I think it is  a realistic representation of how
long it would take to get the mass of the bike swinging the other way.

I don't agree with you.  At first I did think it might be hesitating
at the point when the rider is moving from one side of the bike to the
other, but it's also occuring before the rider even moves at all.
Switch the steering to your keyboard and you'll see it does not occur
at all.  Keyboard steering is flawless.  I've raced my bike on real
race tracks and  my bike never hesitated in quick switchbacks.  Kyle
described it perfectly when he said, "I didn't think it was a
hesitation though, more like not all of the input was being accepted
as I quickly turned the wheel..."  He's also having the same
consequence from this problem, "especially when I nail the last
section of the track and come through the esses very quickly I usually
end up in the sandtrap because the bike failed to turn due to the lack
of input."  Same thing happens to me.   I've tried every possible
deadzone and sensitivity settings to solve this problem to no avail.
I hope the beta testers catch this before the final is released.

would make a smooth but slower transition from one
side to the other.  This bug has nothing to do
with mass or the rider changing his position.
When you start to bring the bike up from full lean
with a quick steering input in the opposite
direction, the bike will come up just a bit,
completely stop for a split second still in a
leaning position then continue to lean to the
opposite side.  It's not happening when the bike
is vertical while the rider changes position.
I've even set the demo to "manual l/r lean" and
taken these chicanes leaving the rider on the bike
with no body movement and it still does it. The
main thing to remember here is the problem does
not show up when you're using the keyboard to
steer, only when using a controller.  Trust me,
it's a flaw in this almost perfect simulation.
What a shame if they don't fix it for the final
release.
