Hi RASers,

Just grabbed this title and wondered if anyone else had come
across it.  It's kind of primitive in a way (graphics look blocky on

realistic about the physics, though I'd much rather play Insane.

Any opinions? Impressions, etc?

I almost snagged it since I'm into 4wd trucks, but figured I'd wait to
see some opinions. The Cabela's logo kind of made me associate it with
one of those "quick buck" hunting games.

I saw it was released but I couldn't find any (p)review about it..
Could you tell me a little bit more about it? How is gameplay, AI, FF,
etc?

I havent had much chance to play it yet, but will try to come up with
a report this weekend, after a little seat time. Off the top of my
head, the biggest thing is the disappointing graphics, but that could
just be my system.  It wouldn't run at all on the GeForce2 Ultra I had
for 6 days (until I returned it for not running games).

You can tell it's trying to do an accurate job of modelling offroad
challenges as far as traction and approach angle and stuff, but the
graphics are so clunky it's hard to pick your way through the
environment the way you need to when you are off-road.  On my puter,
at least, the***pit view also has holes in it, through the firewall.

These are just very quick impressions, I'm not ready to tank the whole
thing yet.

Then again, it's only 20$, so how bad could it be?  It does come under
the "Activision Value" label, though.  Kind of indicates they didn't
think it was the greatest product when they marketed it.

there's a website for it here:

http://www.activisionvalue.com/salespages/4x4/4x4.htm

its currently pretty useless, half a dozen low-res screenshots (which
look horrible), a list of features and a downloads page that will
presumably feature a demo at some point, but now just features "coming
soon".

Well, it could be worse than a case of beer, which is my other $20
option. ;-)

The best option is probably to wait until it is 9.99 in the discount
bins and then pick up a 12 pack to go with it.
