Just had a thought.  can we convert the DTR tracks to GPL? sorry I had
to ask, seems that would be fun to slide a Lotus around in the dirt ;-)

Mike,
How about converting Hickory from N99 to GPL, then go in and edit the
track textures from asphalt to dirt, then decrease the grip
accordingly.  Sounds like the only thing that we couldn't do is a dirt
cushion.  But, slide a Lotus around?  How do you NOT slide a Lotus
around in GPL??

Eliminate all possibilities of conversion between two companies making
racing sims Mike.  It's simply incompatible at 100% until they both agree to
work on the same standards of file architecture.  Game engines vary from one
sim to an other in an incredible way, since they vary in how much open they
are (Ubisoft being at the opposite of Papyrus in that, Microprose like
Papyrus for GP2).  The new Papyrus game engine is similar to the old game
engine, which makes track conversions an easy task.

The only thing you can hope is to "replicate" DTR tracks in GPL, which will
probably never happen.
