I have a Pentium ll 450 with a Voodoo2. Frame rates are excellent in
800-600, but every now and then GPL freezes but the sound (and sim) appears
to continue. This lock up is not recoverable and I have to reboot. This
problem does not occur in 640-480 mode. I've tried various drivers and the
most stable seem to be the Diamond Monster (at Diamondmm).
The 3DX reference drivers give a completely washed out picture and also lock
up the picture.
I also have a G200 but the latest (so-called!) patch for GPL is lamentable -
makes it look like an Atari game (no offence) from circa 1985.
Any solutions anyone?
I have a PII 300 with a VoodooI M3D card. I experienced routine lockoups
running at 800x600, and have seen a complete (aprox. 30 hours' worth of play
time) solution with turning my definition down to 640x480.............. I do
not miss the extra detail, and am getting MUCH more workable framerates in
traffic and during starts.
If the V2 gets to hot, it will freeze. Nothing to do with the game, that
will continue to run, so will sound.
Get the OC tab for V2, and downclock it a couple of notches, or buy a fan...

The V2 ain't getting too hot in NHL99, MGPRS2, Unreal (I ran Unreal at
100MHz no lock-ups)
I had an overheating problem w/my 'old system' (ISA souncard gave V2
screaming fits...constant, repeatable lock-ups around 5 minutes into
anything...since that card was tossed, it ran fine w/everything).
Everything, that is, until GPL.

Hmmmmm, just wondering.... Are any of you people experiencing this
problem overlocking your PCI bus? Could this be a timing problem in the
BIOS setting for the PCI latency timing?

% I have tried that already I am running the v2 at the lowest slider
% setting and still no better it locks up about 10 min into the game....

Upside out, or inside down...False alarm the only game in town.

Until last week, I had a PII 300 on a QDI LX MB with 128 Mb and 8Mb
V2. No problems with GPL at all. Then I changed round to a new QDI LX
MB (I own a shop and like to turn the stock around!!), fitted a 12 Mb
V2 and PII 333. Now EXACTLY the same probs as you guys are having.
New drivers, PCI configs in BIOS, nothing I have tried has sorted it.
