Their site has not been updated since 10/13 and I haven't seen any posts
from Eric T. Busch or Randy Cassidy on RAS for a while.

Just wondering if we will ever see GPL 1.2.  It's been over a month since
the beta was leaked.  At that time it was supposedly only a week or so away.

Hopefully when GPL 1.2 is released there will be more interest in on-line
racing.  Right now there doesn't seem to be much activity on VROC: More
servers than drivers.  Seems like before the 1.1 patch there were too few
servers for all of the drivers.  I spend most of my time on VROC waiting for
races that have more than 1 driver.

I really like GPL on-line racing but sometimes it doesn't seem worth the
time to be on-line for 2 hours to race 2 races.

Dave.

I've heard that all the Papy folks are busy these days playing around
with warez versions of DTR . . . <G>

My mate has the warez version, and is a sim fan. Aparantly it isnt even
worth burning to a cd, he said it was "ultra booring, and slow". Guess we'll
haveto wait and see.

Hmm..

Eric posted yesterday on rec.autos.simulators.

Remember that they have a job to do.  And Papyrus is well known to be silent
on any post-development of the titles they have released.  They have always
been like that.  A simple comment here and there sometimes, just enough...

Well, we would still like to know why the 1.2patch, who was officially
released a month ago by Sierra, has never made it officially yet out on the
market.  What is the GPL development team doing presently ? Randy, any word
you can say to us ?   Many of us are really desperate to any news about it.

Simply, SODA is better. Why they mess around with DTR?

Yeah - Papyrus must have one of the lowest on-line profiles of any game
developer I know. Unfortunate really.

While that may be true right now and (maybe even of Papyrus in general),
a few months back, Randy Cassidy who was one of the main developers of GPL was
actually very active here on r.a.s. answering questions about GPL and I
even ran into him online on VROC. It's great when the programmers of these
sims care enough to do newsgroup support and even participate with the
customers in online racing. Randy has definitely shown a good presence in
the GPL community.

Keep in mind that Papyrus moved their offices just a couple of weeks ago
and maybe that could have something to do with the lack of a Papyrus presence
around here lately.

Also, I would guess a lot of the time some of these programmers spend posting
here on r.a.s. is probably on their own time and not while at work, and real
life has a way of putting a crimp on our hobbies from time to time, so who
knows why things went quiet lately.

They probably know we are all anxious for the release of the 1.2 patch,
hopefully it won't be much longer.

Seeyas on the track.

I was wondering the same thing myself ... SODA is better and has much more
replay value.

Well, haven't seen any Microprose/Hasbro representatives lurking around
here. Ever.
