    I think there is a piece of software called Desktop Dyno.
Maybe someone else knows of another?

Try going to the ASME ( www.asme.org  I think) or SAE web sites and checking
out their software archives.  You may also want to post the question to
sci.engr.mech  (you didn't mean games did you?)

I dont know about freeware or shareware programs but you can buy
engine and suspension software from this sight
