Patch installed, Internet, How I screwed myself.

I finally decided to 'patch the game'.  I went to a bookmark (since
deleted) and grabbed the correct patches.  My setup.exe is dated 6 Nov
96 and the page I got the patch from (no bs here) said if that is my
date, get n2pat0.exe.  Get n2pat1.exe if dated 27 Nov 96 or whatever.
Anyway, the justification/explanation was that I had version 1.00 and
not 1.01.  Cool.  Like I care really after the patch.  So, I grab
n2pat0.exe and read just enough of the readme to get the job done.  Now
were up to the part about screwing myself.  Seems this dudes page had it
backward.  Made sense to me that version 1.00 of the game would take
patch '0' and 1.01 would take patch 1.  I talked my friend through the
URL's to get the patch and noticed the difference then.  He installed
patch 1 (same version of the game as what I have) and didn't experience
the 'very serious calibration problem during multi-player' that I did.
What a mess!  Couldn't steer, couldn't brake.  Had to recalibrate while
everyone else was heading around the track.  Jeez!  Patch to 1.03 went
ok it seems and didn't find a prob with my game.

Well, which patch do you REALLY get if you have 1.00?  Are there known
multi-player/modem problems for the patched games?

Please provide an answer.  I will be sitting here while me and my ***
each have a post-screwing cigarette.

Thanks

Jim Fitzgerald
