DW providing setup tips for N4

OK, I sound like a lunatic, but Darrell Waltrip's commentary on car
setups during Fox Network coverage is helping me with setups on N4.

At Atlanta he pointed out the Ward Burton likes a stiffer RR spring in
order to help plant the LF tire on the banks.  I have increase my RR
spring to 600 lbs on the Atlanta-like tracks (Lowes, Texas) and, damn,
if that's doesn't help with the turn in.

So, criticize him all you want, but DW knows what it takes to set up a
car and what those setups mean to the driver on the track.  Those are
unique insights that I take right to and to a real race car.

Also, see how quickly DW diagnoses EXACTLY what went wrong with a car
as soon as it slows down (and not just "flat right front tire" when
someone drives into the wall).

Ned Jarret and Benny Parsons -- God bless 'em -- never competed in
this era of NASCAR-enforced aerodynamic parity.

Yup. I agree. I use what he and Larry say and apply it directly to the car
in N4 and it usually works awesome.

I've been listening to what both he and Larry have been saying. Very
informative. They seem to be going a little deeper than ESPN ever did. I just
wish DW would quit singing! Blech!

I think that was when Blaney lost his. God that was funny !
I kinda had Fox pegged to have Darrell running around in the pit area more.
Would be nice to see Benny or Buddy make a guest appearance. I just cant
seem to associate*** Bergren with Nascar. (maybe its that hat he wears) :)

I've always got my handy dandy notepad near by when those boys are talking
shop.  My N4 setups have definitely benefited from their commentary.

Was listening to them on the scanner this weekend. He sings all the time,
not just when they are on the air. As soon as they break for commercial he
starts singing something. lol

:)

pick up  copy of Berggren's  "Speedway illustrated"  Its about as grassroots
a NASCAR magazine as you can find, giving equal time to local weekly series
and WC.  Its a great magazine.  They recently had Tony Stewart show up to
try and beat the lap times of some weekend warrior in his own car on his
local track.  (he  did)
