Remco_R; Have to admit the graphics look great. Almost like
they took Gpl & transposed it to Spirit of Speed. I wonder if
it will run as well as Gpl and I wish they or somone would do
the same for a 1990s version of F1 or Cart..

How many times I've read that line ("the screenshots look great") over the
past 6 years, only to be totally disappointed by either the end result or
the non-appearance what-so-ever of the product!

I'll reserve judgement until it actually hits the shelves.

Are there any webpage dedicated to this game, or at least some information
about it? Those screenshots doesn't give me any clue except it looks like a
racinggame from the thirties. What tracks are there going to be in the game
and so on.

It would be really nice to race Avus and a banked Monza track (did they race
on that in that era ?)

OT: How come that all those old abandoned tracks looks a bit unreal and
mystic ? I remember beeing in Berlin with my family in 89 and my father showed
me a huge banked corner between two lanes of autobahn and told me that it used
to be a racetrack. I still think of that as a bit out of this world.

I think Avus is definitely in, as is Brooklands and old Donington Park.

That was the banked section of Avus! You get the same effect if you visit
the old banking of Brooklands.

Olav, Avus was used for the first time in 1926, for the inaugural German GP,
then through the 1930s for the annual AvusRennen (Avus Races). The circuit
was actually constructed by Russian POWs during the First World War.  It
consisted primarily of two parallel adjacent straights connected by curves
at each end, one of which became banked in 1937.

When racing resumed there after WW2 the straights had been cut in half, due
to the track now running into Soviet territory.

Avus was a dangerous, boring and unchallenging circuit, detested
particularly by Stirling Moss.  The banking was demolished in 1968 but the
circuit continued until last year as a venue for touring cars.

Monza has been used as the site of the Italian GP since 1922 and was
certainly used throughout the 1930s.

Hope this helps.
