Wow... how bad was THAT? After 3 hours of downloading, I got the ***y
thing running on my PC and was completely underwhelmed. The graphics are
poor for a 3dfx game (see the Psygnosis affair for an idea of GOOD
graphics) and the sound dire.

As far as the game engine goes, F1 cars brake just before the 100m board at
Monza, yet in this, you're obliged to start waaaaaay back if you want to
stop in time. Then there's the corners... both Lesmo's are 3rd gear in real
life and in this they are 1st gear, the parabolica is a fast corner for F1
cars, but is more like a slow drive in the country in this.

The AI has to be the worst I have ever seen in a modern game and doesn't
even compare well with F1GP. In the run up to a corner, you have no hope of
getting through in one piece unless you give way all the time. A plus point
is that computer cars seem to go around debris on track, but this is
counteracted by damaged cars going around the track a snails pace, but ON
THE RACING LINE.

I think what I'm trying to say is that it's okay, but as a Formula One
simulation it needs a lot of work.

The graphics are a matter of opinion. I returned Psygnosis F1 in
record time, so can't recall exactly what the graphics were like, but
Ubisoft's F1 isn't THAT outdated yet.

To many options are turned off in the demo to judge this don't you
think?   You can even select manual shifting in the demo?

Agree, there seems to be some AI problems.  Especially the damaged
cars staying on the racing line.

I'd say some work. :-)   I'll hold off final judgement for the full
version.
