Netscape to IE

I currently run Netscape currently but want to switch to IE so I can
play CPR on the "Zone". Can these be run on the same computer without
screwing everything up? I have a feeling that IE would plant a virus
in Netscape or something....I have also heard that the new IE (Ver.
4?) is a hard drive hog....Will IE 3.0 work with the Zone??

Sometimes I really hate those bastards at Microsoft.....

I say if MS demands that IE be the only "Zone friendly" browser, then
***THEM! One more reason to NOT purchase CPR.
Lets see here:
 Win95 ONLY= -1 for MS
 DirectX 5= -1 for MS
Poor framerate on P166/Rendition=  -1 for MS
 Internet multi-play IE only= -1 for MS
"auto pilot" anti crash device= -1 for MS
Wheel setup problems= -1 for MS
 Pretty graphics= +1 for MS
Hmmmmm......
CPR seems to be in the red so far with this sim.
Papyrus doesn't have anything to fear ;)
IMHO of course!

yes...it will work. I have several browsers installed on mine....
among them are netscape gold 3.01 , netscape communicator 4.03,
and Microsoft IE 4.0 (not to mention the one that comes with aol)
I have experienced no major problems, though IE does like to be your
default browser, as you will find... simply tell it NO NO NO.... and to not
ever ask you again  :)

I agree with ya JH, I couldn't help but laugh - after downloading and
installing the demo, I went to the zone just to check it out, they have a
faq there, one of the questions is - can I use Netscape Navigator in the
zone? Of course, answer was no, said they were aware of the problem and
were working on it <g>
Yeah, right.
I thought the demo was reasonably well done, but I think Papyrus will be
king of racing sims for quite some time.

I have Net4 and IE4 both on my system. I have had no problems with
either. I think the both have their plus's and minus's. No, IE will not
plant a virus in your Netscape. You can decide how HD space you want IE
to take by selecting which install

Not sure if IE3 works with the zone.

Like it will ever listen.
I have had my netcape 3.0 totally screwed up by IE.

I have IE 3.02 (only for the Internet *** Zone) and it works at the zone.

% I have IE 3.02 (only for the Internet *** Zone) and it works at the zone.

At the moment all the Zone is doing is examing the cookie info your
browser sends it.  If someone created a cookie monster that "lied" to
the zone and said your Netscape browser was in fact IE I bet it would
work.  However, Microsoft is upping the ante at their sight.  It looks
like certain areas of their site won't be accessable unless you have IE
4.0, as they are in the process of recoding parts of their sight to only
work with certain aspects of their browser.

Yep, personally I'm not falling for this cheap tactic, the ZONE has been
saying they're working on Netscape support for quite a long time now, yeah
I'm sure they're just working overtime on that one.

I'm not about to base what browser I choose on some stupid scheme Microsoft
has come up with to force people to switch to IE4.

No Netscape support on the Zone has already cost Microsoft a sale since I
didn't buy Age of Empires due to not being able to play it on the Zone since
no Netscape support, this same thing might just cost them my purchase of
CPR.

Unfair tactics like this are what make Microsoft ripe for anti-monopoly
attention, and rightly so. What the hell does my choice of browser have to
do with giving me multi-player access to games I pay for?!?

Cheers.
