This is what happend:
Installing the english version (always full) for the first time, no reboot
was asked. Starting the game directly gave a very patchy starting screen.
Getting into the setup the game had all the problems recognizing my LWFF
wheel I had seen before with the demo, but I could get it to work at acc+
and brake+. Going into properties of the display I saw the prim. ttl screen,
but at 640*400. Pumped it up to 1024*768, just like it worked in the demo
( no problems than). Than going into a test with Mika in the Mercedes. Never
got into the pitbox, because the game just stepped out. After that I had no
keyboard functioning anymore, so I did a reboot. When rebooting I saw
windows updating etc...and after startup was finished, I started the game
again. Nothing. The log did not even come up.
Checked everything, but everything worked perfectly, including F1RS and
F12000.
Deinstalled the game, than reinstalled it as an english version. After
installing it, I restarted the computer without the game-cd in the cd-rom.
Than I accidentally started the game again, and the game asked for the
cd-rom...in French  I clearly installed the english version.
Putting the cd-rom back into the cd-player, the game started again and I got
the whole thing running all the way into the pitbox of McLaren. Took the car
out, but it was going like holiday- on-ice, and with no FF at all. Returned
to the options for FF, shut off FF, en retried the McLaren. No difference.
Stepped out ouf the game to check if everything was ok in the profiler but
everything worked well. Checked it in F12000 (on a different partition than
F1RC), and did not find anything that could be a problem.
Back to game, I could not even get into again. The system hung up and I
rebooted. Windows was again updating ..... which I did not understand.
Looking at the hardware I found harware and drivers, all non functioning off
course, for network adapters.
Jesus, what a shit game.
I managed to go all the way into the pit box once, after deinstalling and
cleaning everything in the registry that had anything to do with ubisoft
(also anything under'windows/system'). I was ready to believe the upcoming
patch would bring my wheel alive, and changed some settings in the display-
area. Dechecking tripple buffering, and oops, there it went again !
Deinstalled everything again. Took the demo and installed it. Within 5
minutes I had it up and running, no problems what so ever !!!
This was version 1.00.4 or something like that. Anyone aware of this junk ?
I returned it to the shop and got my money back. Never again I'm going to
buy Ubisoft after a first release ( in fact it's wise to not buy any
software at first release):( :( :(
