High-end wheel/pedal controls

by Dan Salt » Wed, 10 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I have about worn out my Thrusmaster T2 and so am considering buying something
a little more rugged (and thus more expensive).  I am looking for information
on what is available.  I have found info on the ECCI CDS2 and Interactive
Racings F1 Sim (used to be GP500).

Are there any others?  Who is using what, and what do they like/dislike about
what the are using?  Please don't bother telling me about any Thrustmaster or
similiar plastic products, as I am only interested in controllers that are in
the same market as the CDS2 and F1 Sim.

Precise, excellent craftsmanship, great support, adjustability

CONS:

I get so worried about people, with dirty hands and shoes or feet touching it!!<G>

The Thomas Super Wheel is a well built piece of equipment that should
give you years of driving pleasure. I bought a 2 year old TSW and it
is still in perfect shape. No comparison to the T2. Check out the

Dan, take a look at www.durandel.co.za/smith1.htm.
This control system was developed by an F1 fan, who also
happened to be a pc driving simulator fan. (Arcade gamers
need NOT apply!)

This is VERY rugged, (you can break it, but you will need
a BIG hammer) is very simple to set up, will last a LONG time, (no
bungee cords were hurt in the manufacture of this wheel) and is VERY
competitively priced.

Contact details are on the site for further info.

regards

Kirk

Interactive I/O <www.interactiveio.com> make a nice wheel,
both in desk-top trim, as well as full simulators.  I like the feel
of the wheel over that of the ECCI, since the I-I/O uses a shock
dampner that ads to the illusion of wheel resistance.  The ECCI
is also very nice, but is far too silky in its travel.  Not a bad thing,
it's just a matter of preference.  =)

Cheers!

Hi Ronnie,

The TSW 2 is coming along pretty well, we still have a few bugs to work
out yet, hope to have them in production by the end of Jan 98, possibly
sooner. There will be an announcement on our website and I'm also
posting regular updates, I put up a couple of pics the other day.

Don't ignore the Thomas Super Wheel. Hand-built like a brick sh*thouse and
very affordable. Got paddles and gear shift on mine; steering feels really
precise. Check out this site: www.f1racingsim.com/tswwheel.htm then head on
over to Thomas Enterprises.
