i have not a computer with an 3fx

but i have : 233pentium 2 with a ati 3dkaart

Forget it. You need an upgrade (an additional 3D card).
My P2 266 AGP was getting as low as 5fps. To enjoy the game you need the
detail which you would have to turn off. I spent the $$ and bought a Monster
3D II. Everything turned on - single player, 30+ fps. With 11 AI cars, drops
to 20 fps but still smooth.
Is it worth it? Ask me again in a couple of months, but as for now, it's
incredible.

Well, buy one ! The voodoo I is so cheap by now that almost
everyone can afford it...

You wont have much fun with GPL with this configuration, as well
as all other newer 3D-games.

I played the GPL demo on a P166, 32 meg and no 3dfx card for about 4
mths. ugly, ugly, ugly - but driveable.

Now with an 8meg v2 card its very driveable (32fps with 5 AIs).

or.. Buy a rendition card. I hear you can get the diamond stealth 2
s220 for $10-20 after rebate in the US. I get 36 fps all details turned
to the top at 640 x 480 in offline practice, and mid ***s at the start
of a race. I have a p225 mmx (clokt 200) with 64 mb ram. (i turned off
3d fx on my awe 64 and it made a small increase in fps)
Only prob with either the voodoo1 (3dfx) or the Rendition is, they won't
be around much longer and neither one benefits much from going any
faster than about 266mhz. Tom's Hardware actually benchmarks the
stealth card faster than a voodoo1 card in D3D app's, but in the real
world, not alotta D3D games out there.

eh $73 dollars is the cheapest price they sell the V2 for here
(amsterdam, type Helios3d - 12mb)
