getting GPL "up to date"?

If you GPL veterans wouldn't scoff too much at a relative GPL newbie, I'm
wondering if someone could tell me (as detailed as possible) what I would
need to do after a fresh install of GPL to get it up to par?  I'm talking
3rd party patches, updated cars, tracks, sounds, etc.  I would greatly
appreciate it.

Check out the Legends Central Beginner's guide here:

That should set you along the right lines.

Here's some links I found especially useful during my recent return
to GPL racing:

http://www.legendsof67.free-online.co.uk/

http://jfcarsets.cjb.net/

http://www.kotr.de/org/

The GPL fan sites are a incredible resource.  You can practically
build GPL2 from all the enhanced car sets, updated sounds and new
tracks available!

Thanks for all your help guys.  Performing all these updates were a breeze!
Most of the updates can be done without using some sort of pak/unpak type
utility, and that's nice for a change.  The updated car packages from
http://jfcarsets.cjb.net/ are absolutely gorgeous!
