It records the replay regardless but throws it away if you don't save
it. Most sims work the same way and have done for several years.
rbr is a modern sim/game, designed for modern (and future) PCs. If you
aren't happy with the framerate but like the game, either turn off some
eye candy or upgrade your PC imo.

The choice is:
1. Low frame rate.
2. Better frame rate at the expense of reduced graphics, which I like to be
able to see.
3. Better frame rate at the expense of a replay which I never watch.

I can only apologise if my straightforward response caused offence, I
had assumed I was speaking to an ***.
To answer your question in a more appropriate manner:
Yes, it's possible to disable any feature in any sim or game if you know
how.
It would make very little difference to the framerate though, replay
recording uses your PC's memory, not it's graphics card. You are barking
up the wrong tree.
