I have played the demo of this thing for a couple days, and MAN it is
actually cool!  Before you object to such praise, let me explain.  First
of all, the demo uses the F355 and seems to have very different car
physics than NFS2 had (which is a very good change).  I paid way too
much for NFS2 and played it for one day before deleting that turd.  This
demo has captivated me much longer.  The graphics, of course, are
beautiful and fast on my Monster3D.  The rain is cool.  The car spins
wheels and squirms while searching for grip during the 1-2 and 2-3
upshifts (nice touch).  And, the AI is better.  WOW.

The only drawback was the track, which turns out to be another circuit!
Doesn't EA get it?  We want the non-circuit courses and checkpoints
back!!!!  Cops too!!  Too bad they want me to buy this upgrade.  ;(

No they don't get it...any more than Europress gets it when they delete the
in-car view from their sequel to Rally Championship.  It's as though these
great games (NFS original and Rally Championship) are created almost by
accident by a team of good programmers.  Then success follows and all of the
marketing and executive morons start involving themselves in the development
and production of the sequels and we get crap.  Then, occasionally, they fix
a few of the glaring problems and try to get us re-purchase what they should
have provided in the first place.  It boggles the mind...
