I just got N99 the first thing I notice is that no matter which version
Rendition or 3dfx the game seems alot slower. I know my machine is getting
kinda of dated but N2 flies in dos rendition mode.
Even GPL runs smoother than N99.
Any one else have problems
Quess its a good thing I'll be ording a new Abit, or ASUS board and a 400
PII chip next week, when I get my $$$ back from the worst people in the
Reseller business   A2Z computers. but thats another story.
Right now they have 700.00 bucks of mine and I am still waiting on a refund
everything I got from them was defective, and now they tell me they are
running behing in doing refunds.

Thank God.....I thought I was the only one.

My FR in 3dfx mode sucks bad. But it only appears to be a problem in
the turns. Once I hit the straights, it smooths right out. I'm running
a P300 and 8mb V2 card. N2 and GPL both run silky smooth with max
detail. I haven't tested for actual FR #'s yet. But they seem to be
considerably less than N2.

same here turns are bad, except tri-oval a taladega is bad to I guess because of
the grandstands. I can believe that a P300 slows down thats not good. I have a
P400 on order I hope it helps

See ya

32 megs, and monster 3d

You must be actually rebooting into DOS or something. Because the
way the setup program sets up the DOS 3dfx version is to run
in the DOS box within Windows without rebooting. And in this case
the framerate is the same for the DOS version as the Windows
version.

I'm running in windows. But then again, this was touted as win95
native. GPL is also win95, and I don't get any slow down there. I have
to assume this is in the 3dfx coding of NR99.

N99 ALOT SLOWER

Well the problem is now solved on my system. Thanks to some good
advise, I made an adjustment to the nr1999.ini file. Added the
following lines at the bottom for "3dfx specific preferences":

N2FXAA      2
N2FXLOAD=0X200000

These setting are for my 8mb Voodoo2 card. Higher mb cards will
probably allow you to increase the 2nd number.

you race around the track.Didn't notice this in Nascar 2.

Yes, it does and it's worst on the tracks where you should be able to see a
long way.  Kind of reminds me of "Bill Elliot's Nascar Challenge" from the old
days.

I have a Monster2 12mb card and N2.

I use N2FXLOAD=0XFFFFFFFF to load all high-bit textures.
Try it and if it slows down -- put your old settings back.

Jason.
