Anyone remember??

There was this game available on the Commodore 64.It was about a car
race across the country (USA) from one side to the other. You could
choose your own routes etc.Anyway I was wondering if anyone remembered
the name of this game. And if there has ever been a similiar game
released for the PC.

I do have vague recollections of this game - I seem to remember that it
had 'USA' in its title?  Next time I am in the shed I will look it out for
you.  Might be time to fire up the old c64 again anyway and reminisce.

That was called the Great American Cross Country Road Race.
I think Activision made it.

Noooo! Isn't the game that your thinking of called "Out Run"?

Nope, I remember the game as well, but I can't remember the name.  You
could race from LA to NY, Seattle to NY, NY to Miami, etc, or you could race
through every city in the US.  If I remember you had to stop for gas during
some of the stages, and it had different types of weather (rain, snow) and
traffic (night, rush hour) as well.  This game has got to be 15 yrs old at
least.

Possible, I suppose. Out Run had the choice of stages, too.
I was going back WAY before that with the title I named.
I actually thought Out Run came out after the C64 was gone.
I played the Test Drive games on the 64, but the only version of
Outrun I remember was the PC version.

The game i was referring to was way different to these, before you
actually started racing a map of the whole of the U.S would appear, and
you could plot your own routes.e.g thru mountains of flatlands, tarmac or
the back roads etc.It was so long ago I can't remember anymore detail
than that, but am desperate to try and see if a pc version was ever
released.

There is a C64 emulator for the PC, with a lot of games, including
Outrun, Monaco Grand Prix, and who knows, the game you are looking
for...

Sorry, I missed the start of this thread, but if we are talking about
a C64 game this sounds like "The Great American Cross Country Road Race".
