NASCAR2 this month!!!!

by joya » Sat, 09 Nov 1996 04:00:00

I read a posting yesterday stating that the NASCAR2 release was postoned
until 1st qtr '97.  I received an e-mail response today from
Sierra(Papyrus?), shown below.  Beau may have old info, but at least
this info does come directly from someone at Papryus, or  maybe Sierra.
This is also news I would like to believe. :)  So maybe I am buying in
too quickly.  Anyway, I thought everyone might like to hear this.

On another topic, I am adding a third hard drive (all WD Caviars) on a
dual channel EIDE motherboard system. This is in preparation for Win 95
and my new Reactor board (just handed to me, based on all the great
input from you guys!).  The old drives were Stac'ed with Stacker 4.  I
am having lots of strange problems.  I don't want to clutter this group
with all the details right now.  If anyone thinks they might be able to

Thanks in advance!

There is not a set date for Nascar2 yet.  It should be out by the end of
the month.  As for the Pit in C***te, I do not know if it will be
straight or not.

Instead of a third hard drive, you might consider an Iomega JAZ
drive...if you want to spend a little extra.  Certainly worth the
investment, especially with the storage problems you mention...you can
swap out 1 Gig cartridges like floppies, and they're right up there
with EIDE drives in access and transfer times.

Thanks for the response Ben.  I seriously considered the Jazz.  I would
have had to go external (add $100 + scsi card, for a total of about
$500).  Also I just spent a bundle on a motherboard, 32MB simms, win95,
and a reactor card, all in prep for NASCAR 2.  Money was definetly an
issue.  I paid $200 for a 1.6MB.  Shortsighted I know, but I plan on a
new gateway sometime next year anyway.

I did get my problems worked out.  It took all weekend (on and off).  I
found out I had a bad secondary IDE channel on my motherboard.  New one
on the way.  Getting rid of stacker 4.0 also proved excrutiating until I
dug up a procedure at Stac's web site.

Thanks again.

Don't believe everything you here, it went on the shelves at Comp Usa
in Ohio on Sunday the 10th.  I know I have it...   The stocker was
just taking them out of the box and said that they had been in since
the previous Thursday, but they weren't allowed to stock till the 10th
of the month.  You gotta see this game...  Well gotta go race now :)
