NASCAR2 and Circle Track Magazine- yea, this old post is back with new info.

Hi!

This is what happened:  I posted a note to this group explaining that
Sierra/Papyrus has never ran a NASCAR Racing advertisment in Circle
Track Magazine and asked any interested party for advice as to why this
is so.  Funny, I never received a response from a soul!  So I just
forgot about it...

Until now...

I just received the December issue of Circle Track and much to my
surprise, I found a full page ad on page 59 depicting NASCAR2!  I can't
help but wonder why nobody had an opinion about why this has not
happened sooner and I think I know why.  It is because there was NO GOOD
REASON.

Now, Sierra!  If you are reading this post just like you read (and took
advantage of) my last post on this matter, would it be fair to push a
token my way?  For it was me who enlightened your marketing brass to the
idea of targeting your *real* prospects for the sim.  My advice shall
payoff handsomely.  A comp. copy of the upcomming release would speak
for itself in good faith.

It is always the individuals who come up with the innovative ideas not
the top heavy companies that exploit them.

Regards,

CT (the name, not the magazine)

<stuff about Nascar2 ad in Circle Track cut>

Hey, the ad is in all the nascar-related publications this month. It is
in Winston Cup Illustrated, as well. I would not be surprised to also
see it in Winston Cup Scene. I wondered why they didn't do this a
LOT sooner.....

Uhmm...no offense CT, but, I hate to tell you that stuff is marketing 101.
The reason it wasn't done sooner was because we were finalizing a lot of
the different licensing and artwork.  If we could have, it would have been
out sooner.  Plus the fact that we have advertised in racing magazines
before.

Hi Adam,

Advertising 101 eh?  What about bribing magazines, is that not basic
stuff too? I have to say that Sim Racing News has been awaiting a
suitable bribe for quite some time and yet none has been forthcoming
thus far. Could you perhaps have a word with your marketing and
advertising departments about this remarkable and unfortunate oversight,
and we'll look forward to receiving a suitable trinket in the near
future... ;)

Yours jestingly,
John (Sim News Europe)

Maybe they had this idea all along.  But now they and do it with
Sierra's funding???

I don't think that you mentioned here doesn't mean it was your idea.
