Rascar: Wheel Setup and Driving Aids

Thanks to all for your input.  There was another posting on here with a site
for wheel settings that helped me with the damping and that seems to have
been the key.  I feel much more confident and am more competitive now.  :-)
I was just about to give up on this wheel and go try another, decided to
check out this one more site and bingo, hehe, funny how life works out
sometimes.  I was in a couple of online races at Daytona last night and was
able to drive through/around a few (10?-12?) wrecks and besides a couple of
solo spins stayed on track and finished in the top ten in both.  The extra
control I have now with the forces and no deadzone to speak of unless I
start sawing away on the wheel is fantastic for making small quick moves to
avoid hits.  Before I would just hit the brake and hold on, lol :)

Having said that, since the discussion was pretty varied on the driving
controls, I decided to turn on traction control and stability for lowe's
since I have been pretty loose there and not competitive.  Well, that pretty
much made me into superman.  I am now able to pass on the outside at speed
and make the other cars look slow when before they were beating me and I did
not want to be in the outside lane.  I LIKE IT!!  Maybe it will help me to
find a way around the outside when they are turned off?  I don't know,  my
immediate thoughts were, why not have everyone turn them on?  Then no one
has an advantage but if the less talented drivers like myself are more
stable on the track then we all have more fun, right??

We suggested turning on the helps at...Darlington?  One of the tracks that the
default fast setup was WICKED...  That's the only one, but I think *I* still
have the stability help on.  Haven't driven it recently, but I don't think it
helps me any - I'm *still* just a backmarker.

Never argue with an idiot.  He brings you down to his level, then beats you
with experience...

Yep, after fooling around with these settings and doing some racing, I think
the stability control helps to keep the car from going unrealistically
bouncing around the track due to a miscue, or missed corner.  I may leave
that on for a while to compensate for my lack of experience.
