If I hear one more talking head moron newscaster tell me of what a "Hero"
Danica Patrick is or how she single handedly saved American open wheel
racing I will puke.

Is she good? Id say so but hardly a "hero" or savior as the screwed up
American media is making her out to be.

What a bunch of clown announcers on ABC. Comparing Patrick to Airheart or
Sally Ride, what a joke. And someone here had the nerve to attack Fox and
Larry Mac???

I feel sorry for the other competitors. They may have way more skill as
racers but will never get the press this one girl gets because shes a cutie
and fits what the sponsors want. Racing?? Who really cares about racing
anymore???

Racing (since 1950 imho) is for the spectator, not the race... so no more
spectators, no more racin, that is if you figure out that if you cannot sell
tickets you can afford to rent/buy/own a track to run races on. Our short
dirtrack learned this a while back, they updated the PA system (to post 60's
crap) and found announcer who can predictably pronounce names and you know,
chevy, I M C A and stuff like that, and lastly took some $$ off the kid's
gate charges... the stands are full. did the racing change? Naw, still
the same richest dude with the most expensive stuff wins...

It's all about ratings and by implication, advertising dollars. The media
is very fond of creating heroes to get ratings and then bring doing that
same hero for the same purpose.

Americans love to see someone rise to the level of a hero, but enjoy even
more seeing someone fall off the pedestal. Up and down, up and down--
that's the media's philosophy.

Hero? No. But she was good for the race, and good for Indycar racing
in general. TV ratings were up 40%, and open wheel racing needed that.
But will it last to the next race? I highly doubt it.

The reason all the publicity wont last is because if you ask most people
if they know what the indycar series is, they probably wont know about
it. They only know that there is The Indy 500 which everyone knows
about. I dont know why they are making such a big deal about her
finishing in the Top 5 cars just because she is a woman.

will vote her to President, you mark my word...

So why not talk about Danica, she's a whole shit better lookiing than any of

Viewership for the Indy 500 was up 40% over last year. I'd say most is due
to Ms. Patrick. Better start puking.

I HATED the Indy coverage. That one guy would never shut up, and was always
talking about stupid ***we don't care about.

And every time the green came out they were focused in the pits. Very bad
production.

HDTV??? We can't even get the local idiot networks here in Aus to do
much sport in even SD widescreen!

Don't forget Mom-cam, Letterman-Cam and Judd-Cam when there was a
perfectly good race going on a few feet away.

At least it's better then the F1 race the same day when the pulled away
from a potential pass to show Flavio scratching himself. He also had a
pit stain that was about the same size as Ms. Patrick's head!
