when trying to change the player name from "the player" to my name the computer
locks up. Have to do hard reboot. Game runs fine although slow (32 meg video
card) TNT M64. 21.83 drivers. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

I suggest you try to create another player and delete yours.  Somehow, you
might have something corrupted in your own name, so when it loads (per
example it loads the car file rendered in 3d) it locks your PC.

I remember this happening back with previous Papyrus titles if you created a
new player from scratch, it would lock your PC as it had a corrupted player
picture each time.

I had the same problem - it's a bug in the game.  Read about it on the
sierra forums.  .
Suggestion was to go back to an older driver or run opengl.
I changed to opengl with the 21.83 drivers and no problems.   50-70fps ave.

I think this is a "known issue" with the 21.83 drivers.  Check the
README to be sure.
