Does anyone know where I get some information/formulas on simulating a
realistic physics engine
on the computer.  ie formulas for weighttransfer, gripangle, tire
deflection, etc...

Thanks

Hi Paul,

<shameless-plug-mode>
Try our book, "Race Car Vehicle Dynamics", published by Society of
Automotive Engineers, 1995.  It's big and expensive but we tried hard to
include lots of analytical details and worked examples.  I don't think you
will find anything better unless you start digging through lots of
individual papers.

SAE has a web site at:  www.sae.org
which should have details for ordering.

Our engineering business is based on tire mechanics, automotive
aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics (car handling).

Let me know how you are making out...

Sincerely,

-- Doug

I highly recommend it! I've just about worn my copy out. Just a word of
warning, the math gets a little heavy in places, but if you really want to
understand the physics of racing, this is the book to buy.
