Please also see my plea for help with a Saitek R4 help above...

Unfortunately, there is no way to increase the length of travel for the
brake. You'll also find that other pedals don't offer that much more travel
than ours. This is due to the way digital wheels work, pedals are only
allowed 64 digital bands and that only allows about 1 to 1.5 inches of
travel. Any more and dead spots between each band would make the game
unplayable.

Subject: R4 Wheel Brake Pedal Travel

I have an R4 wheel...the brake pedal travel is ridiculously short compared
to the accelerator and compared to what is necessary for proper control in
more advanced driving games. How can the travel be lengthened. I am more
than happy to make a minor modification to the pedal set if it is possible
rather than returning the whole package because of this problem.

Thanks,

Marc

This was a very interesting post since I sent the same message to Saitek
about my R4.  I got the same answer of course, except they told me that I
was the only one who ever complained about the extremely short stroke of the
brake.  Yes, it is impossible to play GPL with it.  I am back to my
Thrustmaster wheel since the game doesn't have FF anyway.
The argument about 64 steps is a copout because each step could be slightly
wider.  If you examine the brake, you'll see that they use a very small arc
of the pot's potential.  Why not replace it with a pot of half the
resistance and double the stroke?  You'd still have the same total
resistance when the pedal is pushed all the way down.

Saitek, WAKE UP.

Tom

My MS FF wheel has 2.5 inches of travel on the gas and 2.25 inches on the
brake. They both use the entire throw for actuation and this is adjustable
in the Ms Profiler software. I also like the lower angle of these pedals
compared to any of the others in the under $200 range. The pedals were the
reason I picked this wheel not because of the FF (although a good FF
implementation begins to grow on you).
