attempt to buy the CART leftovers. So now he's poaching the individual

The "war" is effectively over, Dave just can't let it go. ;-)

A month from Long Beach, and the promoter is worried about exactly how many
cars OWRS might rustle up, or whether he should pursue a last-minute swap to
GA, vintage, etc.
While CART had the superior product, they did as much damage to themselves
through mismanagement and arrogance as Tony George did burning through his
inheritance and the Indy mystique. All they accomplished was aiding
NASCAR's ascension in the public eye.
I don't give much of a ***either way these days. They both have issues,
and this now 8 yr pissing match got old 5 yrs ago. The only reason I went
to Mid-Ohio's CART weekend last year was to watch SPEED Touring Car. ;-)
It's all quite sad considering all the fond CART memories I have from
growing up. :-(

I've noticed over the last couple of years that the TV directors at
both IRL and CART events have been pretty careful not to do too many
wide shots of events where the attendance is poor, lot's of tight
track shots. But they make a BIG fuss when CART went to Canada and
Mexico and the stands were full.
