Control brake pedal

Hi all,
I play GPL (and some other sims too mainly N4 and RallyChamp 2000)  with a
M$ Sidewinder .
Like many of you, I suppose, I have to face a problem with my brake pedal.
Unlike in real cars, you can
brake at the max without any resistance.
The best solution I found is the following :
I cut a squash ball in 2 equal parts, put one upon the other, and put them
under my brake pedal.
By this mean, I can much more brake as hard as I wish without too much
blocking my wheels.
Some of you may have had other ideas. Could you share you some of you brain
cells with me?

Get a Ball Racing Developments peddle system.....they come with an
adjustable *** stop.....you can even set the brake peddle to move just
ticks of an inch.......100% braking with no lockup....and perfect (real
world) brake feel!  Available in overhead mount with clutch peddle (for N4
or other sports car type racing), or underneath mount (pivots) with clutch
peddle, coming this Fall!

Tom

PS:  You can also infinitely adjust the peddle spacing from side to side to
fit your peddles exactly to your own personal "heel and toe"
method/procedure (some drivers like their heel on the brake, toe on the
gas....or.....heel on the gas, toe on the brake....or versions in-between).

Are able to post a pic or give better details on EXACTLY where under the
pedal you placed the balls?  This is something I want to try...  (since the
spring broke..)

Yes getting a picture would be something I strongly recomend especially if
you are unsure where to put the balls before depressing some pedals...

I have TH Ferrari wheel and pedals (the pivots on these are quite high)
so I used tennis balls and put some wood together which butts up against
a wall and holds the balls in place - the tennis balls sit behind each
one of the 2 pivots.  I then attached a couple of hook rings to my pedal
casing and 2 hooks to the wooden contraption that I built which then
hook onto the hook rings to hold the whole thing steady.  Complicated to
explain and even moreso to draw using simple text etc so I'm not going
to try.  Anyway what it all means is that I really get some push back
from the tennis balls when I press those pedals, in fact a bit too much,
but it'll do for now.  Sometimes my chair starts to rock backwards when
I'm going for full power or *** the brakes and I really have to hang
onto that wheel.  <g>

I use a solid foam *** ball under my brake pedal (homebuilt).  A piece of
heavy wire was pushed though the center of the ball and loops made where the
wire comes through the ball.  Two screws were passed through the loops and
secured into the plywood base to hold the ball in place.  When the ball is
compressed the center of the ball (and loops)  move downward, guided by the two
screws. The pedal has about an inch of free travel and then comes into contact
with the ball which will compress about another 1/2 inch or more (watch that
the pedal doesn't bottom out on top the screws). When I calibrate the brake I
press a little harder than I normally do while driving; I find this gives a
good amount of force near lockup in GPL.

My half a**ed attempt to draw it below:

I just recently moved to this MS wheel/pedal from the (Analog) TM-Nascar
Pro...  So, can you tell me more about your squashball fix?  did you put the
ball inside the cover, or something else? are you able to get full
depression assuming you need to?  I have been fighting this for a few
months, IT IS A REAL PROBLEM.

I see someone replied to you with, "get ACT-LABS pedals", um... well, gee
would this be a hacked setup?  I cant stand anymore Monkeying around to get
things to work...  I mean if I spend my money I don't want to have to
constantly have to perform a bunch of unordinary tasks to make it work in
all my games, from nascar down through Viper & Ratbag, through MTM,
collection back up to gpl...

Check out the pedals section on in my Logi-corner.
Look for "pressure sensitive brake pedal"

Works great.
