OT (Way of topic !) - When did "elites" become the plural of "elite" ?

by elrik » Fri, 19 Sep 2003 14:40:50

This is my very first time starting an OT thread (been on the net for years)
so please bear with me but  .  .  .

If I hear one more American, right wing, tv, political  talking head putting
down the usually left wing media "elites" instead of the  "elite" I think
I'm going to scream and throw a hard object at the screen.

I know usages change in all langauges but "elite" is its own plural.

As a "CNN,  MS/NBC, CNBC" aholic I am getting completely frazzled by the
very sound of it.   The truly elite are disapearing and the "elites" are
taking over.

Idiots!

PS.  My pills ought to cut in any time now.   ;o)

I'm surprised that stations like CNN, MS/NBC and CNBC even allow any
rightwingers on the air.
I have an idea.  Instead of calling them elites or elite, how about "left
wing media douche bags"?

Careful, you'll get yourself sued....or did putting quote marks around
"fair and balanced" save you?

What's life worth if you don't take a few risks ?   ;o)

The quotes were just there to hilight the sarcasm but thanks for the
warning.  Fox lawyers probably don't have time to surf the obscure corners
of the net anyway.  I mean I believe in the vast right wing *** and
all that but c'mon  .  .  .  sue me for a little joke ?

Nobody would be that stupid.   ;o)

Bear in mind bob, the plaintiffs win was over turned on appeal so instead of
millions she received a 400k settlement.  After lawyers I bet she actually
got somewhere around 100-150k.  Still allot for being dumb but not as bad as
many remember.
