If you're booting straight into DOS you will need to modify either your
config.sys or autoexec.bat file to pick up the mouse drivers, depending on
what mouse drivers you need to use.
If you have are using Windows98 or have the msinput stuff (check for mouse.exe
located in c:\msinput\mouse, c:\windows\command, c:\windows or the like). If
you have this file add the following line to your autoexec.bat:
c:\whereever\mouse.exe
where c:\whereever is the location of the muse driver file.
If you don't have a mouse.exe file, then you should have a mouse.sys file.
Check for it in the same places as for the mouse.exe file. If you have this
file add the following line into your config.sys file:
device=c:\whereever\mouse.sys
(or try devicehigh=c:\whereever\mouse.sys after the dos=high line if you have
one)
If you are trying to run Nascar through a dos box from WIndows 95 or 98 then
click the N2 icon with the right mouse button and select properties. Then
select the program tab and click the advanced button. Now click the MS-DOS
mode checkbox and click the specify new MS-DOS configuration radio button. Now
add the appropriate lines (as above) to the autoexec.bat or config.sys window.
If you don't have any mouse drivers then you should be able to download them
from the web pages of your mouse's manufacturer.
You may find that you have to follow a similar procedure for your sound
drivers.
Sorry if I'm teaching my grandmother to suck eggs,
Good Luck,
