Playing OLD games on NEW hardware

So is there anyway to play the oldies like Indy Car Racing and Nascar 2 (dos
based games) on today's new hardware.  After upgrading to hardware capable of
playing GPL at respectable frame rates it seems that all dos support has vanish.

Example:

P3-500 with a AGP TNT (nvida)  primary video card
Voodoo 2 12mb  (which doesn't matter)
256mb RAM
Monster MX300 Sound Card

After much work I finally got Indy Car to recognize the sound card in dos mode,
but now there is no video and I am certain that UNIVBE doesn't support anything
as new as the TNT.

Are we doomed to wait for IndyCar 2000 and Nascar 3  or is there a way to play
the classics with modern hardware.

HELP!!!   Thanks.

i have a feriend who is "on top" of this VERY situation! i know he
will stay -in tune- with developments and as SOON as he gets me going
i will reply to you!
hang in there,,,this is too wide spread a problem and not everyone has
given up on the 'classic-till-replaced' sim ICR2 :)

Try playing under a Win9x DOS window (maximize it to full screen of course :-)
Those games work fine with my Matrox Mystique G200 and SB AWE64 in plain DOS and
Windows.

Jason.

Sinjin,
For Nascar, N99 has a Win95 executable - but at the cost of multiplayer.
I never got N2 to work properly on a setup similar to your own, don't race
online, and made the upgrade - It also includes the trucks, and through the
PITS website you can get the patches to run it as a touring car sim - which
made it worth the upgrade for me.  N99 will support your Voodoo 2, but would
have to run in software mode on the TNT.
  For indycar - ICR1 or ICR2?  If ICR2 - check Sierra's website for the
patch to convert the DOS game to the Win95 version.  It has no 3d
acceleration through windows (and only Rendition is available in DOS), but
since it was written in the day of the 486, will scream along very nicely on
a modern system.

If you're talking ICR2, you can patch it to the Win95 version.  (It was the
only way to make it work with my soundcard on one computer.  Doesn't sound
as good, IMHO, but it works)  I have no problem making the DOS version of
the NR1999 executable work on either computer.  I imagine that N2 would work
as well.
