The multi-player online network play "HAWAII" has you change to
C:\NASCAR and type HAWAII to self extract.

What got upgraded?  Nothing?

What changed?  Only readme.txt?

It is obvious that multi-player online network play via telephone has
been added.  In past upgrades from 1.0 to 1.1 to 1.2, other small
changes have been made.  Did Hawaii change me from 1.2 to something
else?  What changed?

It was 5 am last night when I was doing this, so maybe I was dreaming,
but I think I remember an installation message dance across my screen
that said something to the effect that the IPX server requirement for
network play was being improved.  Excuse me if I was dreaming.  Excuse
me if this is not what I am hoping this is.  Can I now use my ethernet
instead of my null modem connection for two person nascar -n mode,
even though I do not have a dedicated Novell Netware server?

At 5 am EST, there was noone else online except me.  Even if there had
been 4 of us up at that hour, we could not have raced?  MINIMUM=5?
Why is that?  I have raced multiple short races many times over the
modem with only the two of us on the track.  Even with two people it
can be a blast!  Why is there a minimum of 5?

Best wishes!

Even with TWO?!?  I'd think you'd at least need a couple AI cars to keep it
interesting...

I know, we all get our jollies in different ways.
Let's say you want to practice drafting at Talladega with a local
phone call friend.  You are also trying to perfect your setup.  Your
good friend agrees to keep his "best known setup" constant for a few
races, and then you keep tweaking different things.  This removes alot
of the randomness.  It is just you, your good friend, and the track.
May the best man win!

I know there are more scientific ways to work on setups.  This way you
get to practice drafting, following someone else's faster line, have
fun, etc. etc. while "testing" your tweaked setup.

It works for me.  Restarts were frequent.  The phone time was free.

There were a bunch of changes made to multiplayer, but multiplayer is a separate set of
executables from NASCAR.  In other words, we have not updated NASCAR 1.21.  A number of other
postings up here cover the multiplayer enhancements, so I won't re-run it here.

5AM?  Well, I guess people do sleep from time to time! :-)  The service is very busy from about
6PM to 2AM.  Busy to the point that you might not get on after 9.  Keep trying back, though.  We
have the capacity for 128 concurrent users.

The minimum 5 thing was an error on our part last night.  That should have dropped down to 2.

Ok, that makes sense.  I guess I'll have to call my erstwhile teammate...  He
SAYS he's faster than me at Tally<g>.
