Having given up on iRacing (for now anyway), I tried the demo a few weeks ago and
couldn't quite decide whether I enjoyed it or not... which I guess meant I wasn't
enjoying it. I certainly preferred the lower power (it seemed) experience of
driving the iRacing Skip Barber.
Having said that, I've never been able to understand why you can't spin the SB in
1st gear... it seems to have either traction control or the slowest first gear in
the history of motor sport. That's certainly not a problem in NetKar Pro. There's
plenty of power to light up the rears.
Of course maybe if I hadn't been stalling the engine every ten seconds I might have
enjoyed it more? :-) It did remind me of my early days in GPL though, spinning
regularly when downshifting into corners and making a complete fool of myself. That
was never a problem with the iR SB because it's a very easy car to drive (slowly!)
I may stump up the cash for the full version eventually though. It certainly has
plenty of potential and authentic feeling physics. It's just that coming from
iRacing it didn't grab me the way that jumping into the Skip Barber did, right from
the start. Then again, NetKar grabbed me about a million times more than the poxy
Solstice did. :-)
