Millens Toyota Has 900+hp at bottom of hill and is lucky to make 500 hp at
the top.  Also since the hill climb is a timed event and you race the clock
how woulc you make online play like the real thing, and how do you simulate
the effect of altitiude on horsepower.

I know it will be a lot of work, but I feel it can be done, just the way you
simulate in flight sims the performace of the airplane at higher altitude, and
for the modem play you would just have to wait your turn like the real thing,
or if you feel brave challenge someone to a head to head race.

I'm at the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend. In the Expo, Toyota has Rod
Millin's Pikes Peak winning  truck on display, an I use the word truck loosly.
The***pit looks like a Champ Car and if you lowered the ride height a bit and
slapped on some slicks, the thing could run Le Mans<g>.

A sim of the Peak would be a blast, how 'bout Pikes Peak Legends, I'd love to
drive an old Miller up the hill!

I think this would be GREAT!  You could have different classes, just
like in real life -- the variety of entries is almost limitless
(including old Indy cars with absurd wing and wheel combinations!).

Do it!

A challenge, yes, but it would be a blast -- like drag racing uphill
with turns! <G>

Hi Morris,

I hate turn based games.  Instead of waiting your turn, you could all race at the
same time, but alone.  You could put ghosts of the other cars on everyones
screen.  This way one hill climb takes 10 minutes not 50 minutes with 5 drivers.
I know the ghosts aren't relistic, but it would be an appropriate trade off.  Even
GPL has trade offs like double-clutching for us.  Come to think of it,  lag would
not longer be an issue!  Very interesting.

Jason.

The ghost car is a good idea,Thanks,
Thanks for all the feed back, any other ideas would be appreciated.
I know it will be a lot of work and research to make it as accurate as possible,
but hey, thats how all software companies start. I have a lot of ideas for this and
future sims as well. Imagine 4 wheel drift in the dirt on the edge, its going to be
fun. I hope to put up a web page in a month or so when things get going.
Anyone got ideas for a name for this. I was thinking of Pikes Peak the Challenge
