To anyone that is concerned,

I called Sierra today (29th) and asked the operator when or if nascar 2
was available yet.  Guess what she said. SHe said it will not be released
until late january, so I mailed them asking them if it was true.  I still
haven't got any reply yet though but when I do ill post it saying what
they wrote.  You may not want to hear this either but I asked about the
upgrade for nascar 2.  She said that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN UPGRADE.
I THINK SIERRA IS FULL OF THEMSELVES. AT LEAST HIRE SOMEONE WITH THE SAME
ANSWERS.  ONE I GOT WAS 10th of dec and the 12th and the 5th of dec.  I am
pissed off right now because I don't know who to believe. Anyone know for
sure then respond.

Fair enough.

I hope it's just the varying release dates that***you off. I get
pissed off hearing about the "latest" release date (eg when GP2 was
near) however. I certainly don't phone up asking some clueless wonder
when they think it'll be released. That's a complete waste of time as
anyone with a little experience will realise (ICR2, GP2, NCR2 being
prime examples I suspect!).

What I really don't understand is why people expect an upgrade from
Nascar 1 to 2! It's a new product, albeit based upon previous games.
Alledgedly it's a 70% rewrite or something like that (ISTR from posts
long ago). I don't believe you can honestly expect an "upgrade" of a 2
year old game that'll retail at an anticipated UKP30. No doubt some
will disagree, but after a company has put a year into the development
of something new I see absolutely no reason why we should expect to
get it for next to nothing. Seems like scrounging to me a bit.

Patch upgrades though, now they're another matter. I'm usually willing
to pay media costs for significant upgrades. When Nascar 1 was
originally released, the UK manual was absolutely APPALLING. It was
incomplete, wrong, and simply thrown together in a couple of hours I
suspect! Thankfully, after a few emails back and forwards between
Papyrus and myself, and I presume others did the same, I discovered
that *** Entertainment (the UK distributers) were replacing the
manual FOC. That was a situation in which I *expected* a free upgrade.

It all depends on the situation. NCR1 -> 2 is not one of them.

Just wanted to get that off my chest as it does annoy me a bit!!!

Well, I got my Nascar 2 upgrade offer from Sierra in the mail
yesterday and ordered my copy for $29.95 today (upgrade price). She
said it would should tomorrow, and I would get it Friday (I paid the
extra $3 for 2nd day delivery). The offer also states I have 30 days
to return it for a full and 'friendly' refund from Sierra, something
most software retailers won't do - only unopened software is
returnable. (Probably won' t be returning it though!)

So see, there really was an upgrade deal for Nascar 1 owners.

p.s. The Best Buy price is good too, but you may have wait alot
longer, and put up with all the b.s. about when its due in (they said
end of Dec today) , call the store several times, etc. and maybe it
still won't be in stock when you get there...  Also heard in this NG
tonite that new orders from Sierra as of late today maybe backordered
already! No telling when it will hit the shelves in any kind of
quantity.
Glad I ordered mine when I did :) , can't wait to see this Rendition
Ready title run on my Verite card....

Best Buy is selling a full version...(in other words if I have to re-
install Nascar2 sometime in the future I won't have to install my Nascar1
first)...for the same price.

The upgrade is the full version. Just terminalogy. I order from Sierra
two months ago for the $30 offer. If it hits the local stores before the
mailings then I will just cancel my order.
