Fair enough.
I hope it's just the varying release dates that***you off. I get
pissed off hearing about the "latest" release date (eg when GP2 was
near) however. I certainly don't phone up asking some clueless wonder
when they think it'll be released. That's a complete waste of time as
anyone with a little experience will realise (ICR2, GP2, NCR2 being
prime examples I suspect!).
What I really don't understand is why people expect an upgrade from
Nascar 1 to 2! It's a new product, albeit based upon previous games.
Alledgedly it's a 70% rewrite or something like that (ISTR from posts
long ago). I don't believe you can honestly expect an "upgrade" of a 2
year old game that'll retail at an anticipated UKP30. No doubt some
will disagree, but after a company has put a year into the development
of something new I see absolutely no reason why we should expect to
get it for next to nothing. Seems like scrounging to me a bit.
Patch upgrades though, now they're another matter. I'm usually willing
to pay media costs for significant upgrades. When Nascar 1 was
originally released, the UK manual was absolutely APPALLING. It was
incomplete, wrong, and simply thrown together in a couple of hours I
suspect! Thankfully, after a few emails back and forwards between
Papyrus and myself, and I presume others did the same, I discovered
that *** Entertainment (the UK distributers) were replacing the
manual FOC. That was a situation in which I *expected* a free upgrade.
It all depends on the situation. NCR1 -> 2 is not one of them.
Just wanted to get that off my chest as it does annoy me a bit!!!
