Steering Wheels???

by Jon » Wed, 31 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I am looking around for a 'force feedback' steering wheel for my PC.

I have looked at the Microsoft and Saitek models and they both seem 'OK'.
Does anybody know any other wheels that they could recommend?

Cheers

Personally, I use the Logitech WFF wheel and like it very much, however it is a
very personal decision. I suggest buying at a place which will allow you to
return or exchange the wheel if you are not happy with it and also to checjk
out the Force-1 site which has reviews of most of the Force Feedback devices on
the market.

I have the Saitek and it's pedal travel makes braking smoothly and precisely
impossible.  Don't waste your money on this one!!

I have the logitech formula FF wheel and its great as long as you have usb.
This also seems to make it useless in DOS games. I found it to be the best
FF wheel out there, its well built and feels silid compared to the rest
which feel very plasticky to me.

Steering Wheels???

I have Thrustmaster Nascar Pro (non-FF - FF is still gimmick IMHO).  Wheel
has good feel and gives progressive and accurate inputs.
However the springs break easily although the service backup from TM is
superb (free replacements by return mail) - and the replacement springs seem
stronger - none broken so far!

Don't buy if you aren't able/prepared to disassemble and repair
occasionally.

Otherwise excellent product and good value.

Good luck

Greg
