Broken Spring Blues...

by Devo » Mon, 19 Oct 1998 04:00:00

I've been having such a good time racing on-line with GPL that I just
took my Thrustmaster (Nascar PRO) Wheel/Pedals for granted.  As I was
coming down the home stretch at Watkins Glen for my first multi-player
victory I heard a pop at my feet.  Well, somehow I made it across the
line in first, but my pedal(s) are thrashed.

After disassembling the pedal base I discovered that not only was one
side of my accelerator spring broken - so was my brake :(  I guess the
tennis ball taped to my brake pedal held it up.  The one side that wasn't
broken was bent so bad that it was basically useless.

I'M GOING TROUGH GPL WITHDRAWALS!

Question to the seasoned vet's:  Since I'm going to have to order new
springs, what else should I get in preparation for more destruction?

Ask for a steering pot, springs, and a bungee chord. When you eventually
wear out your pot, you might want to replace the bungee too since you have
it  opened up. If your wheel isn't dual axis, maybe just do a major
operation <g> on your wheel and get it in perfect order all at once.

Glad to hear my tennis ball trick has served you well...It took a few
seconds off my times. Finally took a 30 min qualifying session to work on a
hotlap setup and got down to a 1:29 at Monza in the Eagle. Having more fun
everyday.
