Just wondering what lap times people are getting at the Glen using the
NR2003 T/A physics.  I can manage 1:10's in race trim, but since I still
can't seem to find the right line through turn 1R I assume other people must
be faster.  Please post your times at 70 F and say whether it is a qual or
race setup.  I have a feeling 1:06 is possible in qualifying trim, anyone
done it yet?

Please stop talking about it.. I'm trying to resist temptation until the
mod's finished :-)

LOL.  Why resist?  There is a tool at the Pits you can use to activate the
physics, so you just download the patches and run the tool.  No biggie.
It's no GTR but it's loads more fun than running cup cars on the road
courses.  <Haqsau dangles the carrot closer> And you can run on all those
converted GPL tracks.  <closer still>  AND YOU CAN BEAT ALL YOUR GPL LAP
TIMES!  You will be assimilated!  ;o)

> Why resist?

Anticipation is everything :-)

Oh ***. I looked at the original list of contortions you had to go
through and decided it looked like hard work :-) My laziness is probably
greater than my willpower, so I may crack sooner than planned.

A snail on valium can beat my laptimes these days, so that's no incentive!

I'm getting low 1.11's currently, but my setup *sucks* severely, I've
only really got my gears sorted and am not very stable thru the esses,
and have heavy understeer thru the loop.

Once I get my setup sorted for a fast run thru the esses & a tighter
line round the loop I can see myself getting down to the 1.07's or 1.08's

I have ran 1:10.4's with race trim, but only have about 15-20 laps total
with the T/A mod.  I only ran 1:14.2 - 1:14.5's for my fast laps with the
original version of NR2003, if that tells you anything.

One thing that I found helpful is minimum springs and maximum bars.
Eventually I ended kicking the rear springs back up a notch to get it to
balance, but with the springs as close to minimum as possible you get a
little bit closer to the track and a little extra downforce.  The car body
will look like it's scraping the ground but it won't actually hit if you are
careful.  Then you need to max out the bars to keep it stable.  I think this
is what it took to for me to get into the 1:10's.  YMMV.

I have been double apexing the loop because it just felt right.  I have seen
that a lot in GPL and it feels right with these cars too.  I guess in real
life it is typically driven more like a normal banked curve, but it felt
good to me to drive it part way in and then smoothly let it slide out just a
bit before getting back on it.  I might be fooling myself though, perhaps
the traditional line is faster.

De-wedge seems to help in the esses.  Again YMMV.

1:08.314,

i'm still trying to learn the car behavior, and wondering if a wing at 70 is
the way to go. this time was done using 66 deg wing.

Wow!  Was that lap in qualifying or race trim?
