GPL joy and sorrow.

Well, I have been away from GPL for quite some time due to GPLSB not
working for me.

I began playing it today when 1.2 came out, and in my very first race
at Monsa of 6 laps I got pole and won by 5secs. I am no amateur, but
not an elite driver either. My pole was 1:30:01. With this time there
is no way I would have gotten pole in older version. So is GPL 1.2
somewhat easier? Or are Alison's Ferrari setups really gold?

Getting back to my foremost ocncern, I have been unable to run SpyBoy
at all. I tries it with all versions of GPL (1.1, hacked 1.2, and
official 1.2). I got the zip off the gsb website and ever time I try
everything, it shows no races at all, and gives me an error about the
ad jpg, and is unable to open it. I have tried everything and nothing
helped, its the same thing, no races and no jpeg ad.

I got the installation zip off the gsb site today (11/5) and that wont
work either. I am at a loss. Maybe I am getting some screwed up gsb
version?

I got the installation and the patch from links I got on the IRC chat
in gsb, but that didnt help either. And yes I did try reinstalling.

Please help. I would like to kick all of yer a$$es at Monza. :P

I can't match my lap times from before the 1.2 patch...and I thought my old
timed must be slow due to the slo-mo effect!!!

However, the AI should be doing better than 1:30.00...I have my AI set to
not get faster as I do and they still do better than 1:30.00 at Monza.

I had that same problem. Haven't been on GSB for months since I could
never se any races there.

But today I tried the new GSB2 beta. It didn't work again, just as it
didn't for you, but by mere coincident I went into options while I was
still online and checked that I got the GPL-folder right. It was
alright, but when I clicked OK, all of a sudden all the races popped
up!

Can't explain why (bug?), but it worked for me. Finally. Try it.

I guess you reinstalled GPL? Then the AI times are reset to default.
The AI will catch up with your times, and will be faster next time you
race them. Beside that, there is a reason the 6 laps race is called
Novice... <g>

Ignore the JPG Error #52, it just doesn't display the JPG. You don't
mention which version of GSB you was trying. The latest version is
1.99.0.17, with GPL 1.2 support. There are some bugs in it, but it
should work. There is a link on

http://vroc.net/

If you still have problems, please respond with the version number
of GSB AND the version number of GPLLaunch.

With a laptime of 1:30? Nowadays you really need a low 28 to be on
pole, on the popular servers. Allan Scott even drives 1:28:xx laps in
the BRM!

I got the latest SpyBoy beta yesterday and tried it and it works great.
They recommend that you don't have it installed in your GPL folder.
Apart from that can't think of anything.

Why is that? Mines in my sierra folder, but not the sierra/gpl folder?
