If you have Road Runner in the C***te, NC area, send me an email. A few
us are looking to hold local-cable only races. Warp/lag should be minimal,
would be fun. Maybe even a possible league depending on the response and
participation.

Thanks,
Rick Williams

Does DSL in Belmont count?

Doh! I am in Chapel Hill and cannot seem to get either cable or ADSL.
8-(

However, I must say that your connection speed does NOT define
connection quality (warps, etc). I am running in a "Carolina" league
(actually, we are still practicing now...and looking for drivers! <g>),
and there have been folks with good connections (even T1!) having
problems. I have a 56k modem, (connect much below that to eliminate data
compression, etc) and have minimal problems. My point is that sometimes
location (everyone being geographically close) and the correct
connection setup (modem config, etc) can make ALL the difference. I have
been in races (with my modem---I only connect at 26400) with many people
and have had virtually NO warping. The same results in GPL.

Sorry, not trying to justify my connection (I am not happy 'bout it).
Hopefully soon I will be able to "upgrade"---painful to surf from home
when there is Ethernet connection to Internet at work!
