SHRA setup tips??

by ShelbyM » Tue, 08 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I have a question about PCE.    I am trying to run A/Fc or A/D with the SHRA 99
class files.    I was wondering what type of horsepower others have been able
to get out  of those restrictions.   I am having trouble getting sufficient
horsepower to run the numbers that I think are needed to compete in 1999.   If
someone could just fill me in on what their horsepower and torque numbers are,
it would be greatly appreciated.  I am not asking for you to send me your
engine file, but just give me an idea on what is required horsepower wise.

Thanks

SHRA setup tips??

I was wondering how this was done.   The most that I have been able to get is 1654 and 930 lbs of tq.
I am using the maximum bore 4.90 with a stroke of 3.7452 to get 565 ci.   This make sthe flow 2000.
I am using the wedge pro stock heads with the large stepped headers and 18 - 1 compression.   I was wondering
about the cam.   I have been playing with the cam numbers alot to get 1654 horsepower.   Is this where
the power still lies that is needed to run in the fives.   Could you tell me what you have ran with those
numbers of 1800 hp and 1100 tq.   Thanks

These numbers run 5.7s and 5.8s in typical weather with a A/FC.  Keep
playing with the cam.  But don't forget the chassis setup.  All the power in
the world won't run the numbers without the a good chassis.

Thanks.   I thought that it had to be in the cam, but I wasn't sure.

Mostly...all of it is in the suspension.
