Has GPL been hacked yet?

I hate to think about the responses I might get to this, but some of the
times that I have seen turned with GPL on VROC lately make me start to
wonder if someone has cracked this game and made some patches. Let's face
it: even though Papy could have made it very difficult by burying their
algorithms and using floating-point math (which has much harder values to
locate), any code can be reverse-engineered if you have the time and tools
to do it. Can this possibly be happening already? Or, is it a matter of
discovering some loopholes in the algorithms, such as the "lowrider" setups?
(Note: I'll admit that I'm not a good enough driver to keep up with the
fastest, but the differences in times are getting somewhat ridiculous.)

One interesting safeguard would be to have GSB check the copy of GPL.EXE by
using a checksum of some sort. Unfortunately, this would also catch out
those of us who have "patched" the game to change "Murasama" to "Honda",
etc. Of course, just like all the copy protection schemes are eventually
broken, anything can be defeated when you have access to the computer and
software that is running on it.

What sort of time are you refering to?,because there are some very fast
drivers in GPL,and watching there replays, they are not cheating, they are
just very good.
Please tell me the times you are talking about.
BTW.sometimes due to warping and clock smashes online, there are some times
that are to fast to be real, but this is understood.

If they're not going faster than the times found here -
http://216.13.117.36/~schubi/fastlaps.htm - then they probably aren't cheating.

http://home.swipnet.se/~w-41236/ (Read all about the "Global online
racing"-proposal under "For developers". Read it a couple of times, cause noone
has understood it the first time they've read it yet :o)).

The time I saw was 0:57 at the Glen, which is quite a bit faster than the
1:03's on your page. Of course, maybe it was a clocksmash-generated time,
but 6 seconds is a lot of time to gain. Mainly, I just noted this time as
the "track record" on my Watkins Glen screen. That's what I was talking
about, though. I can accept running 1:05's and 6's to the aces running
1:03's, but if someone starts running less than a minute I might as well
hang it up!

I came across a guy in a VROC race last week that lapped around 1:17 at
Monza. So instead of racing I watched his driving. He seemed to have warps
or clock smashes at the same places on each lap saving him a couple of
seconds several places on the track. It looked very much like cheating to
me. Unfortunately I forgot to save the replay.

In online races, when a car suddenly is somewhere else, as if it
skipped some distance, it is called a warp.
