How many buttons??

by James Pickar » Tue, 22 Jun 1999 04:00:00

I am going to customise my nascar Pro RAcing wheel..  just by changing
the buttons around a bit..

Put 2 behaind the wheel (f1 styel)..   I want to keep the gear shift
..  that is a total of 4 buttons..   but I would alos love two more
buttons for looking left and right for GPL..

is it possible to have 6 buttons??  on the single Joystick??

I only have the one joystick port  (but can install up to 4!!  :-)

I notice the Force Feedback version of my wheel has a gear shift.
PLUS..  4 buttons on the wheel..   so it suggests it can be done...

I"m also looking for the WIRING diagram to the SWITCH for the Nascar Pro
RAcing Pro wheel pedals to switch from Dual to Single..  I have the
switch..   it is just detached  (I mucked it up  :-(

Any help would be good thanx...

There are 4 pins on a joystick port for 4 buttons with a standard analog controller. Digital controllers are able to convert it to
more (usually 8) buttons. I dont know the wiring for the Nascar wheel, but the joystick port pins for buttons are:
pin #2 for button 1
pin # 7 for button 2
pin #10 for button 3
pin # 14 for button 4
pin # 4,5, or 12 for ground to buttons

More info on joysticks here:

good luck,
Lutrell :-)
