around at least one lap. Back off that gas pedal, skippy.
So: last nite was the first time I felt some practice paying off..
Both races were Talladega... Both went about the same way -
Easy start - although I was back in the pack, I let a bunch of cars pull
ahead, and naturally, as back markers, they eliminated each other fairly
neatly. Cool thing is, I'm getting better at anticipating knuckleheads
and getting better at avoiding them. It is such a cool feeling to steer
around wrecking cars as their debris field scatters and bounces, only to
break through in the clear! (after all the wrecking, naturally, the chat
messages flash constantly: "You're a***!!!!!", "You're all amateurs",
"***", "#NNN Ran me off the draft", etc. It's actually pretty funny
when you can avoid all the crunching metal in front of you.
The body of the races were good, too - I had some closer racing than
ever, meaning closer to other cars, but still, I need to learn how to
set this thing up.. I can't seem to keep it over 192-195 in turns.
Nobody blew by me like they usually do, though.
So in the first race out of 22 or so cars, I finished 13th (about 6 cars
killed) and the second race, with 32 cars, I finished 13th! (with about
15 cars out)... felt nice.
Funny, too, how after a race, some people pull down off the track, and
some stay put & get whacked. One guy stopped really close to the finish
line, and I spanked him really hard - flying parts everywhere - and when
it showed the "newspaper", it was funny because the car had no wheels,
no hood, no trunk... looked like I left it in the ghetto somewhere - it
should have been up on cement blocks!
So, I think as long as I can avoid "extra crispy" drivers and learn to
setup my car, this will only get funner and funner as I run it through
my Funnerizer(tm).
thanks to the good drivers.
Andrew
PS: NFS:PU? way cool.
