fighting games and lightgun games alot, and I'll even play a console
RPG from time to time. PS2 is my first console.
I have tried a few racing games on the PS2 (Gran Turismo 3, Tokyo
Extreme Racer Zero), but what I notice about all of them is that I get
a headache and feel dizzy afterwards, and I always feel like I can
barely see the road up a head. On my PC racing games, I don't get
this feeling at all. The graphics on PS2 (and XBox) racers all seem
low-rez and flickery. Now, with any other game, this doesn't bother
me much, but with racing games, I'm sticking to my PC with high-res
graphics and my Momo. I haven't seen a racing game yet on consoles
that wasn't a mess of jagged edges.
Some PS2 games, BTW, look great. Gauntlet or Baldur's Gate both
have really clean graphics for a console game, and are easy on the
eyes- but these aren't racing games. Tekken 4 and Tekken Tag also
somehow managed to have a nice clean look. When are the racing games
going to get it that low-res jaggies don't cut it?
I'm not missing much. Gran Turismo 3's gameplay frankly sucks. I'm
not the greatest racer, and the licenses just kill all the fun. Pay
40-50 bucks for a game, then have to unlock 75 percent of it? I don't
think so. Greatly overhyped.
