F1GP and Monaco. The short story...

by Jo Haavar Slangsvo » Thu, 01 Jun 1995 04:00:00

After following the latest GP-race at the TV last weekend, I just had to get
into the car to see it by myself.  After fooling around with some settings I
managed to qualify at 1:16.3xx and I had a lot of laptimes in the actual
race at 1:17 and 1:18.

After finding the last car in the race after only 7 1/2 laps, I continued
until I had reached nr. 2 in the race by 1 lap after 22 laps.  Then I
escaped the hole race. I had competed against the opponents in ACE-mode,
driving with steering-help (using the keyboard) _without_ pushing the
opponents into the walls, resulting some drivers out of the race...

I hope that we can expect more competition in the next release, and that the
AI is included (which is not the case in the release I'm using (1.04?) of
F1GP.)

Q1:-Does an "official" wishlist for the F1GP ][ exist?
        If so, where?
(Network support should be my highest wish, then AI for the opponents and
at last better graphic, but I need speed(23 f.p.s.) before bitmaps/textures)
in 640x480-mode.

Q2:-Any rumours and/or press releases of version 2 around?

Thanks four your time...

You can alter race-behaviour by using a F1GP editor like Gped or F1ed. Setting
your car's horsepower to 670, and the computer car's horsepower from 750 to
720 really makes Monaco exciting again. Of course these settings are
different for other tracks, but you can easily find out for which settings
you can race a reasonable race.

I'm not sure about an official wishlist, most of them are posted here on r.a.s.
My wishlist:
1. Better AI
2. Better graphics
3. More detailed car setup
4. Network play

Somewhere in August, September (late fall).
