Was practicing at Richmond in N4.  The FF there seemed to be a real bear and
I was getting a good workout.  Next think I know... crrrrrunch.  The wheel
has broken off the spindle.

The wheel seemed pretty solid up till then, except for in the last several
days, the paddle shifters started not wanting to shift without an inordinate
amount of pressure.  That probably should have been my first warning sign.

Anyway, has anyone ever had this happen, and more importantly, have any
suggestions for fixing it?

I dismantled the wheel and it is/was attached by means of 4 splined nuts
that are/were pressed into the plastic hub of the wheel.  There was a small
lip of plastic at the bottom of the holes where the nut was pressed in,
these are now pretty much destroyed.  The spline marks that aligned the
bolts in the recesses seem to not be stripped.  There are several tangential
cracks running out from various spots along these recesses.

Aside from the lips being obliterated, it seems to be in OK shape.  I think
either some super-glue or epoxy could be used to repair the cracks.  I am
not sure how to go about building up the lip of plastic that would hold the
wheel in place against the spoke.

thoroughly depressed,

Check with Act Labs customer service.  They are unbelievable.  I broke the
belts in my wheel, and they replaced them AND shipped them for FREE.  My
wheel was over 2 years old at the time as well.  I bet they will have a
replacement part for you.

You!  Stop, and step back away from the Glue Tubes slowly...

I think you need to consult Act Labs before you do _anything_, especially
something like Epoxy that would not be reversible.

Did the same thing to mine last year; snapped 'er off.

Had to buy a refurbished wheel unit from ActLabs.
